To spay or not to spay, that is the question.
Spaying or neutering your animal helps control the pet population, and in some cases, improves the health of your pet. Spaying and neutering can help reduce the chance of mammary tumours, ovarian cancer, testicular cancer and prostate cancer.
It can also help reduce undesirable behaviours like aggression, humping and urine marking, and can reduce the desire to roam.
And it helps reduce the number of unwanted pets that have to be euthanized every year. That's tragic.
We offer rabies vaccination clinics throughout the year. Check our Facebook page for dates and times, or call the clinic.
This is a drive-through, drop-in clinic, come anytime between 1-4pm.
Covid protocols are in place.
$20.00 (cash only)
Rabies vaccinations are required every 3 years in Ontario.
Microchipping can identify your dog or cat if they get lost. It also gives you some peace of mind!
Microchipping can easily be done during surgery.
Book your microchipping at the same time as you book surgery.
We are a drop-off centre for recycled bottles. Our volunteers clean and sort the bottles to help the shelter or rescue of the month.
Please drop off your returnable bottles behind the fence.
Have these items with you:
1. Proof of rabies vaccination within the last 3 years, and a minimum of 2 weeks prior to surgery.
2. Consent form - print the consent form that was sent to you after booking and fill it out. Complete the form but do not sign it before you arrive.
Medications - please let us know of any medications that your pet is taking, including supplements and CBD oil. Medications and supplements may have an interaction with the anesthetic and pain medication that your pet will receive in the clinic. It is much safer for the health and recovery of your pet if we know what your pet is taking before surgery.
We ask all of our patients to be dropped off between 7:00 - 8:00 am the morning of surgery.
Covid protocols apply.
Please remain in your car with your pet. Our staff will come to your car and help guide you through the process.
Our staff will collect your proof of rabies vaccination and your consent form. They will ask you to sign the consent form after going through it with you. Be sure to give us a phone number where we can reach you throughout the day.
Pick up time is from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Recovery times can be longer if your pet is on other medications.
Your pets will be well taken care of!
All surgeries run the risk of complications.
We commonly see a few complications with spay/neuter surgeries including pregnancy, illness, hernias and cryptorchidism.
If we find any complications with your pet, we will contact you immediately about options. Please leave a number where you can easily be reached.
Fleas. For the safety of all of our animals, if we find fleas on your pet we will treat them and then put them in isolation for a few hours. Since mornings are very busy, we will contact you later in the day about fleas and any added expenses that this may incur.
